3 days until the BBQ - I am officially excited. Uhm. Take MRT to anywhere but Chinese Garden - that means you must alight one stop after Jurong East. Or, take:

198, 178, 157, 66, 99, 98, 333, 334, 187 or 160.

I'm pretty sure there are other buses you can take too. If the bus stops along Jurong Town hall road, you can take it! Uhm. Where to get down is hard to explain. If you see some orangey blocks and the blue condo that is also known as Parc Oasis you should get down. Ask the bus driver.
